The Falestinians get a contiguous area ripe for development and rich in resources. Egypt gets funding for a second canal. Israel gets relief from perpetual attack and presumably gets clear title to Judea in the long run. Europe and the UN get rid of a financial drain. Whats not to like about that brilliant plan?
The article contains one toxic phrase: "bright Islamic future". If the new Falestine in an extended Gaza is to be an Islamic state, then there is no hope because Islam is perpetual war. Falestinians are at war against Israel because they are Muslims. Muslims can not tolerate Israel because it is living proof of the fact that Allah is an impotent idol whose promise returns void. Allah promised Muslims the world by conquest, irreversibly "none to put back his judgment"
. By reversing part of Umar's conquest, Israel exposes Allah to ridicule and contempt; the ultimate blasphemy.
13:41. See they not that We gradually reduce
the land (of disbelievers, by giving it to the believers, in war
victories) from its outlying borders. And Allâh judges, there is none
to put back His Judgment and He is Swift at reckoning.
There is another problem: Gaza is ruled by HAMAS while the West Bank is ruled by the PA. The two rivals will never agree; neither one will cede power to the other and they can not get along in a coalition government.
Another problem is overlooked: Falestian incitement against Israel. "A million martyrs marching to Jerusalem" is part of the national psyche. They can not possibly abandon the dream of reconquering Jerusalem.
Only an ignorant fool can hope that the Arab League would go along with any plan that abandons the hope of reconquest. Their citizenry would rise up in rebellion making the Arab Spring look like Mardi Gras.
The entry ramp of the path to peace is an Islamic cemetery. There is no solution while Muslims live within rocket range of Israel.
